Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter natural, unsweetened preferred
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1-2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon sriracha or chili garlic sauce optional, adjust to heat preference
  • 2-4 tablespoons hot water to thin to desired consistency

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the peanut butter, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey (or maple syrup), sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sriracha (if using).
  2. Whisk the ingredients together until they are well combined. The mixture will be quite thick at this stage.
  3. Gradually whisk in the hot water, one tablespoon at a time, until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. If you want a thinner sauce for drizzling, add more water. For a thicker dipping sauce, use less.
  4. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. You might want to add a touch more sweetness, acidity, or heat.
  5. Serve immediately or store for later use.
