Course: Healthy Recipes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Epsom salt magnesium sulfate
  • 1 cup Baking soda sodium bicarbonate
  • 1/2 cup Sea salt fine grain
  • 10-15 drops Essential oil e.g., lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, chamomile - choose based on desired effect
  • 1/4 cup Dried herbs or flower petals optional, e.g., lavender buds, chamomile flowers, rose petals
  • 1 tablespoon Carrier oil optional, e.g., almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil - for added skin hydration

Method

  1. Gather all your ingredients and tools. Ensure your bathtub is clean and ready for use.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Epsom salt, baking soda, and sea salt. Stir well to ensure there are no clumps.
  3. If using dried herbs or flower petals, add them to the salt mixture and stir gently.
  4. If you are using a carrier oil, add it to the mixture now. This step is optional but recommended for extra skin nourishment.
  5. Add your chosen essential oils. Start with 10 drops and add more if you prefer a stronger scent, but do not exceed 15 drops for a single bath.
  6. Mix everything thoroughly. Break up any clumps of salt or baking soda. The mixture should be well combined.
  7. Once mixed, you can immediately use the detox bath salts or store them.
  8. To use, add about 1/2 to 1 cup of the detox bath mixture to warm running bath water. Swirl the water to help dissolve the salts.
  9. Soak in the bath for at least 20-30 minutes. Allow the warmth and the therapeutic properties of the ingredients to work their magic.
  10. After your bath, rinse your body with clean water and pat your skin dry gently.
