Ingredients

  • 1 large knob fresh ginger about 4-6 inches, peeled
  • 2-3 organic lemons juiced (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder or 1-inch fresh turmeric, peeled
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey or maple syrup optional, for sweetness and added benefits
  • Pinch of black pepper to enhance turmeric absorption
  • 1/4 cup filtered water or more, to reach desired consistency

Method

  1. Prepare your ginger: Peel the fresh ginger using a spoon or peeler. Chop it into smaller pieces to make blending easier.
  2. Juice the lemons: Cut the lemons in half and squeeze out the juice, ensuring no seeds make it into the juice.
  3. Combine ingredients: In a high-powered blender, add the chopped ginger, lemon juice, turmeric (powder or fresh), optional sweetener (honey or maple syrup), black pepper, and 1/4 cup of water.
  4. Blend until smooth: Secure the lid and blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and pureed. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
  5. Strain the mixture: Place a fine-mesh strainer over a bowl or large measuring cup. Pour the blended mixture through the strainer, using a spoon or spatula to press down and extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the pulp left in the strainer.
  6. Bottle your shots: Carefully pour the strained ginger shot liquid into small glass bottles. Seal them tightly.
